Nexant Releases World Gas Model Version 4

New version includes improved functionality and rapid solution time

San Francisco - September 27, 2016 Nexant announced today that it has released Version 4 of its World Gas Model (WGM).  The highly-regarded and proven “World Gas Model” is used by the world’s leading energy companies, governments and think tanks to provide insights into how the global natural gas market may develop in the face of great uncertainty.  The WGM projects global, regional and national gas supply demand balances, international gas trade by pipeline and LNG and both contracted and spot prices.

“Version 4 of the World Gas Model can now solve a 30 year scenario, handling 1.2 million variables in less than 15 minutes with the new configuration, compared to over 4 hours in previous versions” said Mike Fulwood, NexantThinking’s Global leader for Natural Gas Market Analysis.    Excel remains the core of the model, both inputs and outputs and all the user friendly functionality is the same”.

As well as being available for clients to use under a license on their own systems, WGM scenarios and data can be accessed through three other products from Nexant; The World Gas Analytics Service (WGAS), Customised Scenarios using clients’ own assumptions, or an intensive Scenario Week.

The WGAS service was launched earlier this year and provides coherent forecasts for global, regional and national supply/demand and prices for natural gas, while a Scenario Week allows the client to take advantage of insightful outputs of the model and resources as the team sits at the client’s office.
