Grid360 TA External Network Modeling Application Overview
Utility engineers monitor the state of the grid on real time using various advanced grid applications such as power flow and state estimation. These
applications are typically used in energy control centers, to monitor the reliability parameters and control the state of transmission grid. These tools
depend heavily on an accurate model that represents the transmission network. Most often, transmission operators have full visibility of their own network, most commonly referred to as ‘internal network’; however they are unaware of the status of the network beyond their own boundaries, which is commonly referred to as ‘external network’. Realistic modeling of the internal as well as the external network is absolutely critical in order to reliably represent the internal-network reactions to external events, and vice versa.
