Travel Tips for Attending Nexant's User Consortium

Apr 23, 2019

Nexant’s User Consortium is just around the corner, May 1-3 at the Marriott Orlando Downtown. While the event itself will be an excellent experience, sometimes the travel associated with a conference is not. Before we see you in Orlando, consider these tips we’ve compiled to help ease your travel woes.

Pack Like a Pro

License? Check. Toothbrush? Check. Phone charger? Doh! A great travel tip is to make a packing list. I know it might sound silly, but I once went to a conference and forgot to pack my business cards (insert eye roll here). Make sure to add all the essentials to your list (comfy shoes, pants, socks) and a few extras like sunglasses and sandals (we are in Orlando after all).

The conference is business casual, so don’t worry about wrinkling your suit. Just pack some nice office attire and maybe a sweater or light jacket---conference rooms are notorious for being chilly.

Speaking of wrinkles… one of my best packing tips is to simply roll your clothes! Seriously, if you’ve been folding your clothes you need to start rolling them. It helps cut down on wrinkles and saves lots of precious suitcase space!

If you’re planning to check your luggage because you’re staying a few extra days to enjoy the conference location (see our tips on things to do here), make sure you know your airline’s baggage policies on weight and size. And because lost baggage happens, pack the essentials and one outfit change in your carry on.

Transportation

Decide in advance how you want to get to the hotel once you land. What option suits you best? Hotel shuttle? Lyft? Uber? Taxi? Rental Car? Check out your options in advance and know where to meet ground transportation at the Orlando airport. Also make sure you have the contact information of the hotel handy (400 West Livingston Street, Orlando, FL 32801 | 888-236-2427). For the best in-terminal navigation experience, the airport recommends downloading their Orlando MCO Airport App.

Key Questions

What questions do you have for us about iEnergy? Be prepared and compile your list of questions ahead of time so that you can get the most out of the User Consortium. This event is for you and we want to make sure you learn what you need to, and get the most out of the sessions.

Note Taking

People take notes in different ways, from laptops and tablets, to pen and paper. Whatever method works best for you, make sure you bring your note taking essentials. You never know when a session is going to cover exactly what you need to know or a networking conversation leads to an opportunity you do not want to forget.

Dining

All attendees can join us for free breakfast and lunch each day, and be prepared to end each day with a networking session including hors d’oeuvres and beverages. If you’re still hungry at the end of the day, there is a restaurant at the hotel, as well as other dining options nearby.

For those of you who just can’t go without your daily Starbucks---have no fear, you can get in a nice 20 minute walk while you get that daily dose of caffeine. I know I always enjoy a little fresh air and sunshine while I’m at a conference; it’s a great way to start the day.
