Industry experts to provide guidance on growing challenge and opportunity of integrating DER into grid planning and operations
SAN FRANCISCO – Nexant, a leading provider of software and services for utilities, today announced that it will lead a pre-conference workshop on distributed energy resources (DERs) in conjunction with the ADS 2015 National Town Meeting on Demand Response and Smart Grid to be held May 26-28 in Washington, DC.
The Nexant-led workshop, How to Align Distributed Energy Resources with Grid Value, will provide guidance on how to address the growing challenge and opportunity of integrating distributed energy resources (DERs) into grid planning and operations, including demand response, energy efficiency, solar, battery storage, combined heat and power plants, and fuel cells. This practical guidance will be delivered by key experts who will present DER valuation frameworks that can be used to decide when and where DERs should be deployed to offset the need for transmission and distribution investments. Workshop presenters are Josh Schellenberg, Principal Consultant; Josh Bode, Principal Consultant; Alana Lemarchand, Consultant; and Stephen George, Senior Vice President—all who work in Nexant’s Utility Services practice. The workshop will also include a utility panel discussion, moderated by Nexant’s Michael Sullivan, Senior Vice President, in which representatives will talk about addressing the challenges related to DER integration.
